About

With over 20 years of experience supporting athletes and active individuals in fuelling for optimal health and performance, I have developed particular expertise in performance nutrition and nutrition therapy for relative energy deficiency in sport (REDs), disordered eating, eating disorders, and body image concerns. My approach focuses on helping each person perform at their best while sustaining optimal health and a peaceful relationship with their food and body.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with many high level elite athletes and teams (local and international), as well as a wide variety of amateur and recreational athletes, across a diverse array of sports and ages. I also love, and have extensive experience, collaborating with coaches and other healthcare professionals. Before embarking on my own private practice, I was a lead dietitian at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA) for 12 years, and at the Kings Park Sports Medicine Centre for 4 years.

Sport has always played a central part in my life. Growing up, I loved a variety of different sports, and competed nationally as a swimmer, track and cross-country runner, and then internationally as a junior and elite triathlete. These days you will find me enjoying the trails on my mountain bike or swimming  with my masters swimming squad, and competing in a few trail running races.

My Academic Training Includes:

BSc Honours in Nutrition & Dietetics (UCT)
B (Hon) in Sports Science (Stell.)
PGDip in Sport Nutrition (IOC)
MSc (Med) in Musculoskeletal Science (UCT) with a focus on REDs
BA Human Movement Science (with psychology) (Stell.)

I am also a certified intuitive eating counsellor, have had thorough training in eating disorder treatment, as well as emotion and nervous system regulation.

My
Approach

Drawing on both my professional experience and personal background as an athlete, my focus is on supporting athletes and dancers in nourishing and fuelling their bodies, while enjoying all foods in a flexible and peaceful way without rigid rules or restrictions.

Staying informed of the latest evidence-based clinical research is important to me, but I equally value a person’s lived experience and unique story. With this in mind, I am able to tailor my approach to each individual and their particular situation.

With a compassionate and non-judgemental approach, I strive to create a supportive environment where my clients feel safe, understood, and empowered to make choices that align with their personal goals and values.

My greatest joy is guiding athletes with REDs or food struggles, to return to thriving in the sport that they love, but most importantly in life.
